Official procedure
- Register with the Irish Radio Transmitters Society for the HAREC examination and pass it. Official procedure [7]
- Apply to ComReg through its eLicensing portal for an Amateur Station Licence, using the HAREC qualification. Official procedure [1]

- IRTS lists a €50 HAREC examination fee (€25 for listed concession categories). ComReg charges €100 for a new station licence, or €30 if aged 65+ or receiving the specified disability payment/pension. Standard exam plus licence totals €150. [1]
- Processing time
Official timeframe: ComReg states a general target to process, validate and complete spectrum licence applications within an average of 25 working days. This is not an amateur-specific guarantee and excludes exam scheduling. [9]

- ComReg requires a passed CEPT/HAREC TR/61-02 level examination; Novice or Intermediate qualifications alone do not qualify for a new Irish Amateur Station Licence. [8]

CEPT and visiting operators
This is a CEPT member that implements T/R 61-01. A qualifying national licence may allow temporary operation in other participating places under the host rules; it does not replace a resident licence. The licence class must be eligible. [4] [5]
