How to get licensed: Singapore

Official procedure

  1. SARTS states that Singapore's Radio Amateur Examination is currently suspended. Obtain a qualification accepted by IMDA, such as the FCC amateur licence identified by SARTS, and confirm acceptance with IMDA. Official procedure [7]
  2. Apply online through GoBusiness for the IMDA Amateur Station Licence, with evidence of the accepted qualification and equipment/antenna details. Official procedure [8]

Cost
IMDA licence: S$50 for 5 years (Restricted) or S$100 for 5 years (General); exam fee S$40 (S$20 for students) when exams are held, but exams are currently suspended. Frequency and annual fees are waived. Foreign-qualification cost is extra. [9] [8] [7]
Processing time

Official timeframe: IMDA states the Amateur Station Licence is processed within 10 working days from the date all required information is submitted (Mon-Fri excluding public holidays); incomplete submissions take longer. [10]

Additional requirements
  • Applicant must be at least 16; an application by someone under 21 needs a parent or guardian countersignature. [8]
  • Provide passport if foreign, amateur qualification, premises-owner approval for antenna installation, and an antenna schematic if applicable. Equipment must be IMDA approved. [8]
